Victory Wheelers Press Release

Since the Victory Wheelers was formed in 1976, club members have been justly proud of the events that have attracted huge crowds and positive feedback but in 2012 the club experienced its worst year and we want to explain what happened and apologise.

The Victory Wheelers put on the South Coast Internationals at a new venue. This event was a success on the day but the club suffered huge financial losses and the ‘event partner’ we worked which caused a number of our followers enormous problems and unnecessary grief; some of the aggrieved have (quite rightly) instigated proceedings. We want to say sorry to those who were adversely affected. Needless to say, lessons have been learned and we will not (ever) return to that venue!

After much discussion and the airing of contrasting views, the club has decided to attend the Beaulieu Custom Festival happening 14th to 16th June 2013, which happens to be the weekend of Father’s Day. The Victory Wheelers will be working in association with Beaulieu to help make the event a great success. Although it will not solely be a Victory Wheelers event there will be a strong club presence and we hope our trusty and loyal followers will join us for what looks to be a fantastic weekend.

Beaulieu will open its gates for campers and traders at 10.00 am on Friday 14th June. There will be the usual Saturday cruise out and lots of entertainment across the 3 days. Tickets and prices for trade stands will be kept as low as possible to attract many visitors.

And remember – the club’s annual Hayling Reunion is on Sunday 19th May 2013. See you there as well?

Newsletter February 2013

HI Wheelers

Beaulieu

As we informed you at the Christmas meal, Lara Carnell, Chris Jones and myself were to arrange a meeting with Steve Munn at Beaulieu to discuss the possibility of returning to Beaulieu for our Summer Show.  I can tell you it was a promising meeting.  The outcome was a quote from Steve Munn was ‘we would rather have Victory Wheelers on board than not have you’.

There are still much to be discussed but in principal the following presents no problem from both sides:

  • The show will be branded as Beaulieu in conjunction with Victory Wheelers over the weekend of  14-16thth June 2013 (to include Fathers Day).
  • The weekend will be open to campers  at 9.00am on Friday and close on Sunday evening.
  • Saturday entertainment will be a DJ on Friday and a Band on the Saturday, these are already booked as part of Beaulieu’s event.
  • Exhibitor stand space will be sold as a measured space to put in what they want (no extras to park a Van/Trailor)
  • There will be camping, and a Marquee as well as the Brabazon.

There obviously needs to be further discussions and a comprehensive contract but we now have the blessing of the Wheelers Committee, and the club were informed at last night meeting of our decision.

The show as you know is also a Bike Show which worked well last year for them but by their own admission the car show was not a success.

We will organise the customary Saturday Cruise and be involved at the Sunday Drive in. Remember it is a Beaulieu show in conjunction with the Bikers and us the Victory Wheelers.

I am sure you may well have questions which you can discuss with me or a member of the committee. More to follow on this as things develop.

Hayling Reunion

This annual show will take place on Sunday 19th May at the Funland on Hayling Island. Fliers are available so please help distribute. Our chosen 2013 charity with Pam and family from Hanna’s Holiday Home appeal will in attendance. More to come on this.

Wheels Day

We have been offered some sales space again at Wheels Day, put it in your diary, more to follow Good Friday March 29th 2013.

New Club Meeting Place

The Committee has decided that because of the very poor parking at The Railway Inn that has not improved as promised, we shall be looking for a new venue. If any member has any suggestions on this as to where we might go please contact me or the committee.

Membership

This years membership is now overdue so please get in touch with Pete Farmer if you have not done this yet.

Other News

The committee are looking at 2 other car shows in the coming season, one might well be a Charity Night in Bournemouth for the Hanna  Appeal, with some Burlesque from Victoria and co, and Annie Young singing. Both have offered to do this free of charge. More to come on this.

The second show might take place on Saturday the 1st June 2013 teaming up with South Coast Rock and Roll for a rock and roll evening after the car show. This is in the early stages of discussion.

Any ideas that you might have for other events please talk to me or the committee.

Well that is it for now, remember to tell me about things to put in the newsletter, things for sale, help you need etc.

Best Regards
Keith Ellis
Chairman

Wheelers in brawl shock horror!

Wheelers in Goodwood brawlMembers of the Victory Wheelers were caught on camera in a street brawl at Goodwood.

Respectable passers-by looked on in horror as Mods and Rockers fought a running battle in the street.

“We done ‘em good!” one leather-clad ruffian with TRIBSA written on his back was heard to exclaim.

Wheelers in Goodwood brawl“Not in the face!” a Mod uttered as his scooter was taken and then stalled by another of the bikers. His escapades abrubtly halted by the arrival of the boys (old men) in blue.

“We’d fight ‘em again tomorrow, but I don’t want to ruin me suit.” said a young man.

“Disgraceful!” said Angry from Chichester. “Are you sure those sunglasses are period correct!?”
